Welcome To The Queenage Revolution

Queenage is not a dictionary definition.

At least, not yet.

It is an HHC way of describing that point when all those years of experience begin to feel less like a collection of things that happened and more like a very useful collection of things you can now do something with.

That might include work you have done, businesses you have run, interests you have followed, skills you have picked up almost accidentally, things people have always asked you about, subjects you can talk about for hours without needing to prepare, and knowledge you have gathered simply because you were curious enough to keep following the thread.

Over time, all of that becomes part of your own particular mix.

And that is one of the things I love most about the idea of Queenage.

No two Queenages will look exactly the same, because no two people have taken exactly the same route to get there.

One woman may have spent decades in the same profession and developed extraordinary depth of knowledge in one area. Another may have moved through several jobs, businesses, hobbies and interests and ended up with a completely different combination of skills.

Neither route is better.  They are simply different. And both can contain plenty of possibilities.

Now this is where I make the rules in order to break them a little.  I love a play on words and qweenage came to life because there is far more the Queenage era.

You will often see this spelling cropping up around The Happy Hustle Co:

Qweenage.

They are related .. but they are not quite the same thing.

Queenage is the broader idea. It is the point in life you have reached with all that experience, expertise, curiosity and perspective gathered along the way. It describes the stage itself and everything that can come with it.

Qweenage is more about the way it feels from the inside.

It is the sass and attitude, the personality and the slightly cheekier voice that says you have earned the right to decide what suits you, follow the ideas that interest you, change your mind, make your own rules and break those too.

You could say Queenage is where you are .. Qweenage is how you choose to show up there.

And Qweenage is also that young-at-heart person you are inside and out .. the part of you that has absolutely no intention of being defined by the number on a birthday card.

There is plenty of room for both. One day you might feel more Queenage than Qweenage .. and the next, completely the other way around. In fact, I think most of us wander quite happily between the two depending on the day, the idea and possibly how much coffee has been consumed.

Queenage is everything you have grown into.

Qweenage is the sass, attitude and young-at-heart spirit you bring along with you .. including dancing like no one is watching.

Together they fit very comfortably into The Happy Hustle Co world.

You could probably put a number on Queenage if you really wanted to.

I am not particularly interested in doing that.

One woman may recognise herself in the idea at 45, another at 52 and another at 63. The number itself matters far less than the shift in perspective.

Queenage is that feeling of looking at everything you have gathered so far and beginning to see it with fresh eyes.

Perhaps something you once thought of simply as part of your job is actually expertise, or a hobby has quietly turned into years of knowledge. Or several completely different roles have given you a combination of skills that is uniquely yours, or something you followed years ago now connects beautifully with what you want to create today.

That is where things start to become interesting.

Because when you stop looking at each experience in isolation and begin looking at the whole collection, connections can appear that were much harder to see before.

The receptionist who became very good at organising chaotic schedules may also have spent years planning family holidays and creating spreadsheets because she genuinely enjoys making complicated things simple.

The woman who worked in retail may have an instinctive understanding of what makes people buy, what makes a display catch attention and how to explain a product in a way that feels natural.

The hobby baker may know more about gluten-free substitutions than most recipe books because she has spent years experimenting in her own kitchen.

That is the sort of thing Queenage invites you to notice.

And the reason for that is because it is worth recognising what is actually there before deciding what, if anything, you would like to do with it.

The word revolution can sound rather dramatic. But why should the teenagers have all the fun?

This one does not need placards, megaphones or anybody storming the palace.

The Queen can stay exactly where she is.

The Queenage Revolution is much quieter than that.

It is the decision to look at your experience as an asset rather than simply a record of the years behind you; recognising that knowledge does not suddenly become less useful because you have reached a certain birthday; allowing curiosity to continue having a seat at the table, and it is realising that the future can still contain ideas you have not thought of yet.

That feels fairly revolutionary to me.

Especially when so much messaging aimed at women focuses on age as something to manage, soften, disguise or politely accept.

Age … a tiny word with enormous impact on us!

Queenage comes at it from a completely different direction.

You might find yourself asking:

What have all those years actually given you?

What do you know now that you could not possibly have known twenty or thirty years ago?

What have you learned about yourself, about people, about work, about creativity, about money, about what interests you and what abslutely does not?

And what might happen if you started looking at that collection through the lens of possibility?

That is the Queenage revolution.

Recognising the value in the person you already are.

One of the ideas you will come across frequently at The Happy Hustle Co is:

When experience meets your expertise, you become the expert.

Queenage fits very comfortably alongside that.

Experience is all the living, working, learning, trying, creating and figuring-out you have accumulated over time.

Expertise is where some of that experience has developed into knowledge you understand particularly well.

And when you start introducing the two to each other, some very interesting possibilities can appear.

A digital product might be one of them.

Perhaps something you know could become a guide, workbook, template, mini course, collection of prompts, planner or app; or an idea could eventually create a little passive income alongside whatever else you are doing.

Or perhaps looking at your experience differently simply gives you another possibility to think about for the future.

Sometimes the useful part is not discovering something completely new.

It is acknowledging what has been there all along.

Probably while sitting somewhere with a decent view and an ice cold G&T.

So we don’t need to tell that story all over again.

What matters here is what the Queen represents within Queenage.

Not status, or grandeur and definitely not shouting “Off with their heads!” at anyone.

It is simply the idea of taking ownership of where you are now, what you know, what interests you and what you want to do with all of it.

You get to choose the rabbit holes you follow and to the choose the scenic routes that appeal to you.

And above all, you get to decide which possibilities deserve a closer look.

That is the Queen connection that matters here.

And from there, Queenage becomes less about the character herself and much more about you taking the crown and making it your own.

I haven’t found a checklist for the Queenage yet and there is no official moment when somebody hands you a crown and declares that you have arrived.

Although, obviously, I am very fond of a metaphorical crown.

Queenage tends to reveal itself gradually, often through small realisations rather than one big moment. You might begin to notice that experiences which once seemed unrelated now connect in interesting ways, or find yourself looking at the knowledge you already have and wondering whether somebody else might find it useful too.

Perhaps you become curious about an idea that would once have passed you by. Or you notice that something you have always considered ordinary is actually a skill, an expertise or a perspective that has real value and then you simply find yourself asking a different kind of question.

Not, “What should I do now?”

But, “What would I actually like to do with what I know?”

That question leaves plenty of room for possibility. It could lean towards a digital product, some passive income, a new interest or an idea that is still only half formed. It might take you down another rabbit hole entirely, or simply sit quietly in the background until you decide whether it is worth following any further.

That is where Queenage and The Happy Hustle Co fit together so naturally. The possibilities are personal because the ingredients are yours .. your experience, your expertise, your interests, your curiosity and the particular route you took to gather them.

There is another reason this idea matters so much within The Happy Hustle Co, because for many women this point in life naturally brings a little more thought about what the future might look like.

That could mean thinking about how you want your working life to feel over the coming years, whether retirement is somewhere on the horizon, or what you might still enjoy doing if you are already retired and curious about what comes next.

For some women, money is part of that picture too. Perhaps you would like another source of income to go alongside a salary, business income, pension or state pension. Perhaps you simply like the idea of creating something of your own that can continue working in the background and give you another option.

That is where Queenage becomes practical as well as philosophical.

Your experience may contain ideas, and some of those ideas may become digital products. A digital product may then create passive income, and passive income done right can become part of the way you shape your own version of future freedom.

Not as one fixed formula or somebody else’s version of how life should look, but simply as another route available to you because of what you already know.

I did warn you.

Once you start using a word like Queenage, a crown was always going to turn up eventually.

But the crown isn’t really about status. It is more of a reminder that you get to take ownership of what comes next and decide for yourself which ideas deserve your attention, which rabbit holes are worth following and which scenic routes appeal to you.

You might decide that an idea is simply an interesting curiosity. You might turn it into a digital product. It might eventually become a source of passive income, or it may lead you somewhere completely different from where you thought you were heading.

That is the beauty of it.

There is no one-size-fits-all Queenage because there really shouldn’t be. Yours has been decades in the making, shaped by everything you have done, learned, enjoyed, discovered and become along the way.

So perhaps the Queenage Revolution starts with something wonderfully simple .. looking at everything you already know and thinking:

I wonder if I could do something with this? - if so, what?

Then giving yourself permission to follow the thought to wherever it happens to lead.

Lastly, here’s a thought .. what if your knowledge and experience is just the transformation someone else is looking for?

That is quite a thought .. isn’t it?

Crown optional, obviously - although around here .. highly recommended.
